What is GoalPost BTC?
GoalPost BTC documents a quiet but profound shift happening in real time. Since May 2023 I've been collecting screenshots of Reddit users announcing their Bitcoin milestones: the moments people celebrate reaching a personal goal.
The thesis: the goalposts keep moving. What was once a 1 BTC milestone is becoming 0.1 BTC. What was 0.1 is becoming 0.01. As Bitcoin's price rises and adoption spreads, meaningful ownership is being redefined, not by institutions or analysts, but by ordinary people sharing their achievements online.
This is hyperbitcoinization documented from the ground up. Every data point is a real person, a real moment, a real screenshot.
My Methodology
Every post here was hand curated, seen organically as I scrolled, not scraped by a bot. I scroll, I notice, I document. It's entirely possible I missed some posts along the way. This is the story of hyperbitcoinization through my eyes, and you're all welcome to come along for the ride.
That also means the dataset is a record of what I saw, not a census: counts reflect what surfaced in my feed and got saved. The 1009 Days musing goes deeper into why the numbers are what they are.
